The Archbridge Institute is pleased to welcome seven leading scholars to our Board of Academic Advisors. These individuals bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in interdisciplinary scholarship, thought leadership, organization management, and research and public policy impact. We are honored to collaborate with them on our mission to lift barriers to human flourishing.

The new board members include:

  • Edmund Phelps, Nobel laureate in economics (2006), McVickar Professor Emeritus of Political Economy and Director of the Center on Capitalism and Society at Columbia University
  • Vernon Smith, Nobel laureate in economics (2002), Professor of Economics and Law and Founder of the Economic Science Institute at Chapman University
  • Samuel Gregg, Friedrich Hayek Chair in Economics and Economic History at the American Institute for Economic Research
  • Katharine Stevens, Founder and President of the Center on Child and Family Policy
  • Robert Lawson, founding co-author of the Economic Freedom of the World annual report, Jerome M. Fullinwider Centennial Chair in Economic Freedom and Director of the Bridwell Institute for Economic Freedom at Southern Methodist University
  • Omar Al-Ubaydli, Associate Professor of Economics and Senior Affiliated Scholar at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University 
  • Shruti Rajagopalan, Senior Research Fellow and leader of Emergent Ventures India at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University

Each of these scholars has made influential contributions to uncovering the barriers to social mobility and human flourishing. They also share the Archbridge Institute’s holistic vision of human flourishing grounded in the principles of freedom, agency, and personal responsibility. 

On adding these scholars to the Board of Academic Advisors, Archbridge President and CEO Gonzalo Schwarz said:

  • James Heckman, Nobel laureate in economics (2000), Henry Schultz Distinguished Service Professor in Economics and Director of the Center for the Economics of Human Development at The University of Chicago
  • Tyler Cowen, founding co-author of Marginal Revolution, Holbert L. Harris Chair of Economics and Chairman and Faculty Director of the Mercatus Center at George Mason University
  • Russ Roberts, host of the weekly podcast EconTalk, John and Jean De Nault Research Fellow at Standford University’s Hoover Institution 
  • Scott Winship, Senior Fellow and Director of the Center on Opportunity and Social Mobility at the American Enterprise Institute
